I forward Sam Yin statement regarding the entry in his list of bribed persons referring to No. 8 (Acting Sergeant Macaulay).

Also A. S. Macaulay's statement in reply.

The man A Fook absconded when Sam Yio was convicted. He is the man that is said to have bribed Acting Inspector Ball. Macaulay has been in the Central District for a number of years.

Quite apart from this case I should not have recommended A.S. Macaulay's re-appointment in January next when his time expires. He will not then be entitled to pension.

He is not a desirable class of man to have in a Police Force. He is the man that played such a prominent part in the case in which three firemen defended themselves in the Police Court with the assistance of Mr. Francis C.C. for not attending a fire.
